Mark Joiner, August 2018, Dinner
Hamilton Wealth Management in conjunction with Janus Henderson Investors were thrilled to host Mark Joiner on Wednesday 8th August 2018, at Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club on the topic of Investing with Values.
There can be no doubt that our current system of business and government is under pressure. QE has acted to bring future investment returns into the present, civil society is increasingly vocal in demanding a more broadly based contribution from large corporates, wages growth has stalled and unions are demanding a rebalancing of the returns accruing to capital and labour, sovereign debt levels have left the entire system more vulnerable to a financial crisis, there is plenty of evidence that we have met and in some cases already passed important planetary system boundaries, and there is declining trust in institutions and perhaps in democracy itself.
The combination of these factors is heightening the potential for discontinuous change. Mark brought his experience as a strategist, as a senior banking executive and, more recently, as someone immersed in the asset management industry (in both its traditional and its impact investing forms) to put some perspective to these challenges. He is and has been also an active participant in various environmental and social initiatives and is still actively working to harmonise the intersection of business interests and sustainability, in all its facets.
